How to Play KMM
KMM is a twelve-player murder mystery. One of you is the Murderer. One of you is the Sheriff. Everyone else is Innocent. You win as the town if the Murderer dies or the timer expires with survivors. You win as Murderer if the town is empty. Everything else — knives, chromas, scripts — is decoration around that loop.
The lobby before the knife comes out
You spawn in a vote room. Three maps appear. Vote once; AFK votes still count as a random pick if nobody clicks. Use that idle time to redeem codes and equip a knife you can actually see on mobile. When the countdown ends you fade onto Hotel, Mansion, Factory or another clone map, and the role card slaps your screen.
If the card says Innocent, you have no weapon. Your job is to not die, to watch movement, and to steal the gun if the Sheriff whiffs. If it says Sheriff, you have the only gun. One clean shot on the Murderer ends the round. One clean shot on an Innocent drops the gun for anyone to grab — including the Murderer. If it says Murderer, you receive the knife after a short delay. Kill everyone. Do not get shot. Details live on the dedicated Murderer and Sheriff pages.
Coins, crates and why you should still walk the edges
Coins spawn on the floor. Walking a perimeter as Innocent is both a farm route and a way to see corpses early. Caps exist — classic kits cap regular players around 40 a round and pass owners a little higher. Spend coins on crates from the knife index, not on impulse trades. Auto farms on the auto farm page vacuum coins; they will also vacuum you into the Murderer if you AFK in a hallway.
How a round actually ends
Murderer wipe: every Innocent and the Sheriff are dead. Town wipe: Murderer dies to a gun shot, including a stolen gun. Timer: survivors still standing when the clock hits zero, town wins. Some clones show a last-two standoff with no timer mercy — assume you must make a play. After the banner you return to vote. That is the whole genre. The review is about whether the clone is worth repeating that loop for the free knives.
PC binds and mobile thumbs are not the same sport. Read PC controls and mobile controls before you blame the hitbox. Then practice the throw in an empty server if the clone allows it, or in the first ten seconds of a Murderer round behind a wall.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the most common KMM questions.
How many players does a KMM round need?
The experience lists a server size of 12. Two-player tests usually collapse to Murderer versus Sheriff with no Innocents.
Can Innocents deal damage?
Only after they pick up a dropped Sheriff gun. Fists do not kill.
Does the Murderer get the knife immediately?
There is a short delay so the lobby can scatter. Use it to hide, not to emote in spawn.
Where do I redeem knives before I play?
Inventory crate, EnterCode, Redeem — full steps on the redeem guide.
